38 potholes filled each day so far this year in Milton Keynes
[Milton Keynes, 31 October] New figures released today by The Progressive Alliance which runs Milton Keynes City Council show that 5,899 potholes have been filled since the start of the Council year - which is the equivalent of 38 potholes being filled each day.
The Progressive Alliance continues to do the essentials well, filling the equivalent of 38 potholes per day in the five months from April - August 2022.
This means that Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors are well on their way to achieving their Council Plan commitment of filling in 15,000 potholes in 22/23.
Councillor Paul Trendall, Lib Dem Progressive Alliance Cabinet Member for Highways & Landscaping, said:
"I am delighted that our teams have been filling the equivalent of 38 potholes per day so far this year, as our teams are out all year round working hard to reduce the impact on residents and these figures clearly show Labour and Lib Dem councillors are continually making improvements for the people of Milton Keynes.
"Potholes are inevitable especially throughout the winter months, and people use roads and redways every day so that's why we are investing £4m in long-term improvements for roads, redways and paths across the city this year."
The Progressive Alliance is also working on improving the city's most-used roads, known as the Golden Grid network. Earlier this year, the A509 and A421 Standing Way received increased investment and cleaning, and further roads are set to be improved later this year.
Repair Criteria
All potholes that are reported to the City Council are investigated and teams regularly complete routine safety inspections of the city's highways.
Potholes can appear in between inspections so do report any you see on the roads and footways using the Report It section or call 01908 252353.
Any pothole over 4cm deep will be investigated. If there are several in one section of road, even under 4cm, a 'plane and patch' repair may be carried out as it is more efficient covering a larger area than individual pothole repairs.
