We have listened to what you have been telling us, and think that now is the time to consider changing in a structured and organised way.

Some key points for considering a possible change.

  • The council has not consulted residents on waste management since 2005
  • Switching to wheeled bins could save the council from giving out over 9 million recycling sacks each year
  • All our neighbouring authorities collect refuse in a wheeled bin/kerbside box
  • MK has slipped to 13th in the table for recycling rates - all authorities in the top 10 use some form of wheeled bin/kerbside box
  • Residents are concerned about the current bags being ripped open by pests, littering the local area
  • Residents surveyed by MK Liberal Democrats are 92% in favour of switching to wheelie bins when the current contract ends
