Further to my post on the 19th January, I am very pleased to report that following pressure the Labour run Council has dropped plans to charge for parking in the older towns in Milton Keynes.

The following long stay car parks in Newport Pagnell are no longer earmarked for parking charges:-

•Newport Pagnell Silver Street - Long Stay
•Newport Pagnell James Yard/Queens Avenue long stay
•Newport Pagnell Church House
•Newport Pagnell Lovat Hall
•Newport Pagnell Station Road

When the Lib Dems ran the Council we understood the importance to the economies of the older towns to keep parking free, with enforcement of short stay parking being funded from CMK parking income.

We are pleased that Labour has seen sense on this issue and dropped their plans to introduce parking charges in the older towns.
