Councillor Robin Bradburn

We are sorry to bring you the sad news that Councillor Robin Bradburn passed away suddenly on Saturday 14 September whilst attending the party’s annual conference in Brighton.

Robin had been a Liberal Democrat for most of his life and a councillor for Bradwell since 2010.

Whilst on the City Council, Robin served as Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group and Deputy Leader of the City Council between 2021 and 2024, as well as holding the portfolio for Economy and Culture within the Cabinet.

Councillor Bradburn was also Chair of the Thames Valley Police & Crime Panel and sat on several outside bodies spanning history, culture, and the arts.

Most of all, he was a community champion who worked hard all year round, listening to residents, and fixing local issues.

Outside of politics, Robin was a husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to his wife Marie for 41 years who together have a son Alan, a daughter Kerrie, and five grandchildren.

His ward colleague, Councillor Marie Bradburn, Robin’s wife is the current Mayor of Milton Keynes, and his daughter Kerrie is also a city councillor.

Lib Dem Deputy Leader, Councillor Jane Carr, said:

“Robin was an amazing man, and we are all so shocked and hurt by his sudden loss. He was a good friend, colleague, and councillor, but above all he was a devoted husband to Marie, dad to Alan and Kerrie, and a loving granddad. He will be deeply missed by us all.”

Chair of MK Lib Dems, Rebecca Cave, added:

“Milton Keynes Liberal Democrats are devastated by Robin’s sudden passing at our annual conference. We feel that a leg has been kicked away from the base that holds us up. Robin was such a huge part of our local party, supporting all members with his endless enthusiasm and ‘can do’ attitude. The Liberal Democrat Group send our deepest condolences to Robin’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
