The Panel, which makes sure that the Council's pledge to children in care is delivered, has added the Champion Model to their work programme. Through the Model, councillors will be able to lead on key aspects of a child in care and care leaver's journey, for instance, education, health and housing.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Marie Bradburn, who chairs the Corporate Parenting Panel, said: "It is evident that all 57 councillors need to understand their role as corporate parents. They need to provide the best possible care for around 400 children that are currently in the care of Milton Keynes Council, just as they would their own children."

Councillor Kerrie Bradburn has recently become the Champion for Permanency, Adoption & Fostering. "In my champion area specifically, the need for more foster carers is becoming increasingly clear. I'm keen to work cross-party on this to grow our pool of foster carers in Milton Keynes. If you'd like to learn more about fostering, I encourage you to visit Milton Keynes Council's website."

Councillor Marie Bradburn concluded: "We need to do better for all our children, and so I am really looking forward to seeing where the Champion Model takes us, and the benefits it will bring to our children in care and care leavers."
