Devolution of MK Council Services to parish councils?

10 Dec 2016

This past year had brought a higher number of complaints about, for example, weeds, long grass, overgrown vegetation, litter, street lights out and potholes than the previous 4 years. The Government grant to Milton Keynes Council has been reduced by 33% in the past 5 years, a further £22m is to be cut next year, and this has led to a decline in front line services. Newport Pagnell South Ward has begun to look pretty tatty. This trend must be reversed. MK Council is now looking to devolve some services to local town and parish councils and these could be the services mentioned above, but others might be considered. With future funding under threat your Local Lib Dem Focus Team is determined to protect local services. Let us know what you think about your local town or parish council taking over these services.
