Flooding Update, Flood Warden Training
Following the floods last Christmas, Liberal Democrats on MK Council have been working with residents to understand what can be done to prevent future flooding, including what caused the local flooding over Christmas 2020. Two Groups were set up, one to find out about preventing flooding, the other to help with emergency situations.
The groups have been interviewing various organisations including Anglian Water, the Environment Agency, the Internal Drainage Board and Milton Keynes Council, to find out why certain areas flood and what can be done about it.
Liberal Democrat Focus teams in Newport Pagnell and elsewhere have also asked for an independent report. The investigators working on this report have been in town looking at key sites with Newport Pagnell Councillor Jane Carr.
FLOOD WARDEN TRAINING
Thanks to all the volunteers who have joined the Flood Warden Scheme. Their free training will be held in November. If you would like to join please let Andy Carr know by emailing Andy.carr@mklibdems.co.uk
Flood wardens will work alongside emergency teams. Some will help vulnerable residents, some will help evacuate people, others will monitor and report water levels and put out warning signs or close roads.
