The number one priority for the Liberal Democrats is to protect the most vulnerable from Conservative Government cuts.

That is why they opposed the Council's plans to scrap wardens for the sheltered housing schemes and successfully stopped the plan to charge our poorest pensioners for the scheme once it was saved, so they continue to receive this important service free of charge.

The Liberal Democrats support helping our senior citizens lead independent lives.

Leo Montague, pictured at the Dovecote sheltered housing scheme, is delighted that the Lib Dems successfully got money passed in the Council budget to ensure that those who receive this service free of charge will continue to do so.
