LIB DEMS PROMISE TO LISTEN, CARE AND WORK FOR MK

DMC
5 May 2021
Cllr Douglas McCall

Ahead of the local elections on 6th May, the Liberal Democrats are putting reducing child poverty, Covid recovery, tackling flooding and cleaning up neighbourhoods top of their list.

If elected to run the Council in May, the Liberal Democrats will:

• Reduce child poverty

• Tackle unaffordable housing and homelessness

• Help our children and young people

• Fight for better health and social care

• Look after our neighbourhoods

• Improve and innovate our public transport

• Rebuild the local economy and maintain a balanced budget

• Create a carbon neutral Milton Keynes by 2030

Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Councillor Douglas McCall (Pictured), said: "There are only 1 day left until polling day, and I urge voters to think about what you want for Milton Keynes. Do you want things to go back to just 'normal', or do you want things to be better?"

"If the Liberal Democrats run the Council, we will listen to what the Child Poverty Commission has to say, set up homework plus groups where children will be able to get a meal and lobby our MPs to fight for permanent changes to the free school meals system, so that no child goes hungry."

"We will reduce flooding by fighting for waterways to be cleared out, cleaning our drains and pressing for new balancing lakes where required. We'll fix potholes, clear litter and remove weeds so that our neighbourhood are tidy, safe and places that residents of MK can be proud of."

"If you want a better future for our city, vote Liberal Democrat on the 6th May."
