Lib Dems Say It Is Time to Prioritise Planning
The Liberal Democrats are calling for the Council to put £65,000 in their budget to fund support for planning enforcement in Milton Keynes.
The Group will propose this as part of their amendment to the 2021/22 budget at February's Full Council.
They are suggesting the money be used to recruit a senior enforcement officer for 12 months, who will provide additional capacity for pro-active enforcement across the planning team.
Councillor Douglas McCall, Liberal Democrat Group Leader, said: "We know there's been some problems with planning in Milton Keynes, and that's exactly why we're proposing this amendment. We want more money be allocated for pro-active enforcement, so that planning regulations are properly enforced."
Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Strategic Planning, Councillor Paul Trendall, said: "Some residents feel that they aren't being listened to when it comes to planning. We understand and want to do more than just sympathise."
"We want to tackle the problem, and this money will go some way to doing that."
