Lib Dems Thank Community Litter Picking Groups
The Liberal Democrat Group on Milton Keynes Council has applauded community groups who took on the task of litter picking and basic landscape maintenance work during the pandemic.
A motion that was passed unanimously at last night's Council urges the Cabinet to actively support these individuals and groups by providing mentoring and equipment, as well as providing logistical support by removing the collected litter and green waste. All three political groups united in support of their selfless residents.
Councillor Paul Trendall, who proposed the motion, said: "I am so pleased that this motion was passed unanimously. These groups have been absolutely invaluable to their communities and Milton Keynes Council during the pandemic. A lot of this work needed to be done or was overdue."
The Campbell Park and Old Woughton councillor concluded: "This motion is the least we can do to say thank you, and that we're here to support you."
The Lib Dems also brought motions on making Milton Keynes the world's greenest city, and on the economic impact of Brexit and COVID-19. All three motions can be read in full on Milton Keynes Council's website.
