Lib Dems Visit Local Charity Supporting Adults with Learning Difficulties
This week, the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Leader of Milton Keynes City Council visited a local charity that supports adults with learning difficulties.
On Thursday 10 August, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Marie Bradburn, and Deputy Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, Councillor Robin Bradburn, visited Camphill MK Communities in Willen Park.
The charity provides accommodation, support, and creative workshops for adults with autism and learning difficulties.
Currently, Camphill MK is home to 70 individuals, and over the next 5 years will double the number of adults they support with huge £15 million expansion works.
The expansion plans include 60 new accessible rooms, an outdoor education zone with allotments and forest gardens, a workshop unit for craft activities such as pottery and weaving, adaptions to the Chrysalis Theatre, a bigger carpark, and more facilities.
Councillor Marie Bradburn, said:
“I was delighted to visit the community in Willen Park and learn about the wide range of workshops on offer. There is an overwhelming sense of community, and you can really see why this is such a fun and fulfilling place to live and work.”
Councillor Robin Bradburn, added:
“Camphill do amazing work and its great news that they are planning to expand their facilities. The charity is high in demand as people come from across the country to make this their home, and as residents are getting older, it’s great that Camphill are looking to the future so they can support more individuals.”
