MK Lib Dems, MK East, and MK Tory Misinformation
MK Lib Dems have always demanded infrastructure before expansion as MK grows. Now MK Tories are attacking Lib Dems for that demand.
For most people planning is not a 'fun' subject so I'll give some key conclusions here, and then the article will give the evidence to back them up and expand on the conclusions with some possible consequences of the MK Tory actions at the end!
- MK Council prevented building east of the M1, including when Lib Dems ran MK Council (2002-2011)
- The first version of the local plan called Plan:MK (2016-2031) put together by MK Council stated that building east of the M1 could happen after 2031, with no housing targets there within the plan
- An Inspector appointed by a Conservative Government INSISTED that for Plan:MK to be accepted, at least 1,475 dwellings must be delivered east of the M1 by 2031, as part of a plan which would reach 5000 homes east of the M1
- Several MK Conservative Councillors voted FOR Plan:MK's acceptance including those 1,475 MK East dwellings by 2031 (and eventual 5,000)
- The Conservative councillors voting for Plan:MK included Cllr Walker, their current group leader, who is now attacking Lib Dems for MK East which he previously voted for!
