New slide for local children as former park is given new lease of life
Funding has been secured for a new slide on the site of the old Train Park in Downhead Park as part of the Progressive Alliance's draft budget.
The site has been empty for a number of years, but the Labour and Liberal Democrat run Council has made sure the money is set aside to bring the site back to life, starting with a new slide.
As part of the draft budget, there are also plans to install more benches on Pennyland mound, and to repair the footpath near Turnmill Court in Springfield.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Paul Trendall represents Campbell Park and Old Woughton ward:
"Local families loved the old train park that used to be here, and recently residents have been asking if anything can be done on the now empty site."
"I'm thrilled that this funding has been secured so that we can make a start by installing a new slide for the local children."
Labour Councillor Lauren Townsend, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said:
"Play areas are such an important part of our outdoor space here in Milton Keynes, and I'm thrilled that we were able to secure this money so that local children and families have access to even more play equipment."
