Councillor Isobel McCall, the longest serving Leader of Milton Keynes Council and the only woman in the Council's history to hold the post, has decided to retire from politics after 30 years of public service. Isobel serviced on Milton Keynes Council for 22 years, where she chaired a number of committees as well as being Council Leader. Isobel served as a parish councillor for 8 years before joining MK Council in 1996.

Isobel has also been a leading Lib Dem on the national stage being Vice Chair of the Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors and a leading member of the Local Government Association.

Sir Vince Cable, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, said "Thank you Isobel for your many years of outstanding service".
