Women Lead the Way: Lib Dems celebrate women with two by-election wins and a new leader
The elections saw the Lib Dems hold onto its seats in Bradwell and Broughton with two outstanding female candidates elected to the City Council.
Kerrie Bradburn became councillor for Bradwell following in the footsteps of her father Robin Bradburn, after winning with a majority of more than 800.
Councillor Kerrie Bradburn, said:
“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone in Bradwell who voted Lib Dem. I’m looking forward to working with residents and continuing the good work of my dad.”
Whilst fellow Liberal Democrat councillor who now represents Broughton ward with a majority of 628, Councillor Clare Tevlin, added:
“My thanks goes to the residents in Broughton who have put their trust in me. I’m looking forward to representing the ward I live in and working hard to bring more positive changes to our communities.”
Following the double win, the Lib Dems are also under new leadership with Councillor Jane Carr being elected as Group Leader.
The success in the Bradwell and Broughton by-elections means there are now 8 female Lib Dem councillors, which is almost half of the group.

“Our party celebrates the contribution women make to our society and we strive to make our team representative. It is a pleasure to welcome the return of Kerrie and the arrival of Clare, who are both strong, caring, and committed to work hard for the residents they represent.
